About Jamie

Now, I know what you’re thinking… “Hey nerd, where are your dorky glasses?!” I think I left them at home when this picture was taken, but I can assure you I’m wearing some VERY geeky glasses at the moment… 😉

Hello everyone, I’m the PC Gaming Nerd, but you can call me Jamie. I’m an avid PC gamer, and have been for around 6 years now. I made this website because I really enjoy gaming on the very amazing personal computer system, and I wanted to make a website about my passion to share with the rest of the world (that’s you who’s currently reading this, you lovely person, you!).

While I’m currently 22 years old, you may have noticed I’ve not been a PC gamer the majority of my life, so about that…

A Little Story About My Pc Gaming Life and Before…

Way back when I was a wee little boy, I was a die-hard PlayStation gamer. I didn’t have my own PlayStation 1, but I DID have multiple PlayStation 2 and 3’s, and I spent a LOT of my time on those systems, and unfortunately I was on them when I had FAR more important stuff to take care of, like school homework… *shudders*

I never realised that the PC platform was so vibrant and full of great games back then as my ignorant mindset only believed that consoles were the only system you could play video games on and not computers. It wasn’t until when I found out about the PC digital distribution platform called Steam in 2012 that I realised the PC was an admiral competitor against both the PlayStation and Xbox in terms of the best platform to play video games on.

I checked out the digital distribution software with my low-end, non-gaming office computer and swiftly downloaded a free game to try out this trend called PC gaming and find out what all the fuss was about; that free game was one of the most popular PC games in the world at the time… Team Fortress 2. Long story short, I was hooked on that game, and more importantly, PC gaming as a whole, and after that it was impossible for me to go back to console gaming.

Nowadays, I don’t have my under powered office computer anymore, and have long replaced it with a high-end gaming PC with a pretty powerful graphics card, and while I don’t play TF2 anymore, I DO in fact play quite a lot of other PC games on both Steam, and other PC gaming platforms such as EA’s Origin and Blizzard’s Battle.net.

My favourite PC games currently are Overwatch and Team Fortress 2, and if you are curious as to what I’m rocking in my PC system currently, here are my specifications:

  • GPU – GTX 980ti
  • CPU – i7 4790k
  • Motherboard – Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 3
  • 16gb of DDR3 RAM
  • 2TB Hard Drive
  • Windows 10 64-bit Home Edition

What the Point of This Website Is…

The main reason why I made this website is to share my opinions with you about PC gaming. They can be anything from comparisons to PC and console gaming, to what my favourite games are, and maybe little reviews of them too. I may also make posts helping you to find the best PC gaming peripherals and components, but only time will tell before I make that decision…

Ultimately, the point of this website is to try and help you make the move from PC gaming to console gaming, or to at the very least convince you to give PC gaming a try as I honestly believe it’s a much better way to play video games on than consoles.

However, I won’t force you to play a platform that you don’t want to, so please don’t feel as though I’m forcing you at gun point to play your favourite video games on a completely different system if you’re too used to them on a console.

Why I Want to Help You with This Website…

I believe many people are missing out on the benefits and customizability PC gaming has to offer when compared to console gaming, and have fallen victim to believing myths and misconceptions which have put PC gaming in a bad light. I want to help convince you that PC gaming isn’t something to simply scoff at in disgust and move on because I genuinely believe there is no better platform to play your favourite video games on.

Once again, please don’t feel as though I’m forcing you to use a system you don’t want to. I have nothing against consoles or people who prefer playing on consoles than PC’s; you can play your favourite video games on whatever system you’d like.

But, at the very least, I would be happy if you gave PC gaming a try at some point in the future because I think you may be genuinely surprised at how much it performs when compared with a console.

If you have any questions regarding this post, this website, or PC gaming as a whole, then please feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

All the best,

Jamie – the PC Gaming Nerd
